A ski treasure & terrific apartment!
We feel that La Grande Terche ia a ski treasure in so many ways and the skiing there can be fabulous, so few people complete the circuit and realise the wonderful runs available on their doorstep. Access to the Porte Du Soleil is so easy providing you have a car and then of course the skiing is endless. We have skied this area for many, many years and still find new runs and restaurants!! Concerning the apartment itself, we thought it terrific. Absolutely everything we could have wanted (except the stairs), it is warm, extremely comfortable and easy to live in, somewhere welcoming to come home too after a tiring day. All the facilities were good, we appreciated the space, we have stayed in some very small apartments in the area, this was so much nicer. Things seemed to be managed well and my contact with yourself has only been helpful and positive. These sorts of detail make a holiday a relaxing, enjoyable experience. Needless to say I hope to come again and would recommend your apartment to anyone.
Had a great holiday & would highly recommend it!!
A modern, airy and lovely apartment which was a pleasure to spend time in. The apartment was perfect for our family with two small children age 3 and 6 - there is plenty of room tho for more people to stay, with three bedrooms and extra beds!. The apartment was immaculate and had everything we could think of even a stair-gate! It is in a great location, with beautiful views and just over the the road from the ski lifts and children's ski school (we dropped our children off at 8.30 and picked up at 12.00). The area is lovely and quiet, despite it being in the french holidays, we never had to que for lifts! There is a bubble lift that takes you to the first station and then a drag lift further up (which seems great if skiing but as a snowboarder not ideal.) However the long red run down was a beautiful ride through the trees...we loved it! It was also nice that when skiing around we could see the children as the Piou Piou class was next to the lifts at the top of first station and our 6 year old had her lessons on the green runs nearby. Other ski areas nearby are Morzine which is only 10 mins away, and Les Gets about 20mins so all very close by if looking for more extensive runs. Near the apartment there is a lovely restaurant situated on the corner great 'plat d' jour' and the avalanche bar had live music the Friday we were there, we also managed to see fireworks and a bonfire on the slopes - not sure what the occasion was, but good fun! Excellent skiing holiday
We stayed for the first time at this resort as it was recommend by friends. The resort is ideal for a family and especially one like ours with 2 young beginners. The resort is quite but has excellent ski facilities. We all had lessons at ESF which were excellent and the slopes were great. It snowed everyday we stayed and we had fantastic on and off piste conditions. Skiing was really a pleasure. The apartment is excellently positioned and only a small walk to everything. The place really is a home from home with everything you could need in a week. All the rooms are spacious and well equipped, and the rooms are all nicely decorated with all mod cons including an excellent wifi network. Everything is clean and well maintained. The only thing we would change is the length of time we stayed and we will will be back next year! Andy & family
Fantastic Family Holiday
Tony & Claire have set up a lovely apartment which is well equiped, comfortable, tastefully decorated and with plenty of room for a family. They were also extremely helpful with advice and answering any questions we had. St Jean d'Aulps retains much of its small-town character and the apartment really is only 30m from the cablecar. There is a nice deli and a great restaurant at your doorstop and a large Carrefour only 10 minutes away. While there are a great number of larger resorts nearby, we had an absolutely blast at St Jean d'Aulps with our two boys (ages 9 & 11). The Ecole du Ski Francais has consistently good instructors and the empty slopes outside of French School holidays are without parallel. And, the 20km Roc D'Enfer circuit is simply breathtaking. Great stay again !!!
This is my 4th stay in this appartment, that should give you some idea of how good it is! the appartment is well laid out, decorated and furnished to a nice standard and is in a good location in Saint Jean. We normally hire a car at Geneva, drive over via Thonon to collect groceries at get here within about 1 1/2 hours. having hired the car we can not only ski the local area of Saint jean but we often take the car and park at the Ardent lift ( about 5 mins), which is free and gives easy access to Avoriaz and the far areas of Chatel. Other days we'll drive and park at Les gets under the Chavannes lift or morzine under the Pleney lift, both around 10mins away, these cost around 5 euros per day. While we've stayed at the appartment we make good use of the kitchen facilities by cooking some nice meals and having odd nights in watching TV / DVD's, other nights we'll go downstairs under the appartment to Chez Bill's where you can get fantastic local food and also massive pizzas!! So overall great quiet little village and lovely appartment. Thanks again Mark Dowson (North Yorkshire)
Cosy & High Spec
We had a fabulous time even though it snowed heavily for 2 days!! The apartment was great and our only complaint was that we couldn’t get the TV working to watch the rugby – however the Dixie bar in Morzine was a great alternative!! Sleeping arrangements and accommodation were to a very high standard and the slow cooker was an added bonus and well used. We will definitely use again and recommend the apartment to others as it was very cosy and of high spec - and great access to the Portes Du Soleil. Many thanks and kind regards Hayley & Phil
Ideally located
The apartment was bright, clean, spacious and airy. The furnishing were very attractive and comfortable. It was ideally located for us as so near to Geneva and to many different resorts, which we travelled to each day. The first day we skied in the resort and ate at a great restaurant in the evening. The owners were very helpful and quick to answer any questions we had. We will definitely consider using this apartment next year with 2 other couples. Your apartment was gorgeous - we had a really lovely time. Rosie & Andrew
Idyllic retreat in the Alps
We spent 9 blissful days in La Grand Terche in February 2012. The apartment was perfect; clean, well resourced, heated and perfect for a group or family. Being over two levels provides a real sense of home with both communal and private space. The flat has all the amenities you might want and more, even the DVD collection is extensive! The local area is small but perfectly formed. Beautiful views from the chalet remind you where you are at every turn. St. Jean d'Aulps is a brisk 30 minute walk away or easily accessible by navette. Skiing locally is limited to a couple of days (for the pros) but Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz provide more challenging, varied pistes for the experienced. Local buses run to Morzine and Thonon regularly and are reliable. Nightlife in Le Grand Terche is limited but the bars a nice and accommodating of fun! The Sherpa (local supermarket) is well stocked and reasonable. The apartment also comes with an adjoining fromargerie and sausage shop, perfect! The chalet really couldn't have been more perfect, MJFactor were brilliant and Tony and Claire a joy. We'll return for sure, we're even thinking about a summer retreat! Thank you for everything. Rosie & family
Great apartment in a great location
We had some idea of what the apartment was going to look like from the photos provided, but like anyone would be, we were skeptical about whether it would be as nice in reality... and I'd say it was even nicer! Equipped with everything we could need (and more), 2 minute walk to the lifts, restaurants, bars and shop for food next door. We loved the slopes there and for variety we tried nearby Morzine, so many slopes we probably only tried half of them. And no crowds! We will definitely be returning and have recommended the apartment to friends. Simon, Andrea, Nick & Alina
Fantastic
_We have visited St Jeans d'Aulps for the past four years now. It is a superb ski resort and has everything that you would need. This apartment was by far was the best we have stayed in. It exceeded all our expectations and it was a pleasure to return to after a hard days skiing. We cannot fault the apartment in any way. It was very clean and extremely spacious. The bedrooms were lovely and the beds were so comfortable. The decor throughout was superb. We have been spoiled and could stay no where else. Steve Dibb
Home from Home
_We had a fantastic ski holiday in St Jeans d’Aulps in 2010 a little gem
tucked away in the French Alps’, the ski gondola to the slopes is
located just a couple of minutes walk across the road from the apartment
this made it so easy for us and the grandchildren to walk with all our
ski gear to the lift. We enjoyed it so much we booked our summer
holiday and we were not disappointed we traveled around the area
driving on road’s that we had been skiing on on our previous stay. We
discovered beautiful French village’s, stunning view’s from the mountain
top’s, the valley’s and the lake’s were just amazing. The apartment is
excellent with a lovely comfortable living room, cosy bedrooms and well
equipped kitchen. Just brilliant. Home from Home. The people,
restaurants/bars and shop’s in the village are all very friendly.
We
returned for a 3rd time this time to ski with our little granddaughter
she went to ski school for the fist time and just loved it, we all had
such a wonderful time.We will definitely be going back again. Diane Vipas
Magnifique Chalet
_We had the great pleasure of staying here last July! The drive up the mountain to the chalet alone had us sold, but little did we know it was just the beginning. The area is stunning with the town a nice walk down the mountain - though be warned walking back up will get your heart pumping =)! The chalet itself was more than we expected; spacious, clean and all facilities we needed and more. There's even some great little bars, restaurants and shops just outside the door. If you are looking to take in the beauty of the French Alps, then look no further! BOOK IT, BOOK IT, BOOK IT! Congratulations, your lodging search stops here! Steph Martra
Want to book next year already!
_We had a great stay here. It was tastefully decorated and very welcoming. We loved being able to pop next door for great food but to also have the option of cooking at home. Beautiful scenery and close to other ski slopes if you fancied a change of scenery. It wasn't a big, busy resort which we especially enjoyed too. We also popped down to Lake Geneva, which was an easy drive away. Great all year round! Casey Ranson
A wonderful place to stay
_We've stayed in this idyllic apartment several times, both Winter and Summer, enjoying spectacular skiing and walking, and swimming in Lake Montriond. It is a perfect base, well laid out, snug, clean, very comfortable and in a prime position in the centre of a friendly Alpine village. Ronnie & Barbara
The perfect getaway
_My wife and I stayed here last summer for several days and it was absolute perfection!! Beautiful scenery, great restaurants, fantastic apartment and gorgeous weather! The people were more than friendly and we HIGHLY recommend a stay here! Neal Clark
